has become a legitimate industry (which people still don\u2019t really understand), the comparison game is at an all time high. It\u2019s so frustrating when I get these thoughts in my head \u2014 \u201cOh why is she getting this campaign?\u201d or \u201cWhy does she have more followers than me?\u201d I can\u2019t believe I\u2019m<br \/>\n  <em><br \/>\n   measuring<br \/>\n  <\/em><br \/>\n  my own success by looking at what OTHER people are doing. Something about that doesn\u2019t seem right. The social media pressure is very real.\n <\/p>\n<h4>\n  <em><br \/>\n   Your work should be the measure of your success<br \/>\n  <\/em><br \/>\n <\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n  When I look at the work I\u2019ve done over the last five years, I am damn proud of myself. I started as a college student, writing about my outfits, to a fashion industry professional, writing about her life in the greatest city in the world. I\u2019ve worked with brands that I\u2019ve loved and admired for years. And YOY I\u2019ve proven my worth, and my numbers prove it. I need to constantly remind myself that my hard work is<br \/>\n  <em><br \/>\n   <strong><br \/>\n    enough.<br \/>\n   <\/strong><br \/>\n  <\/em><br \/>\n  While it\u2019s a lot harder than I think, whenever I\u2019m feeling down, I just remind myself to look at what I\u2019m doing, who I\u2019m working with, and my spreadsheet full of positive numbers. I can\u2019t let the social media pressure get to me if I want to continue succeeding.\n <\/p>\n<h4>\n  <em><br \/>\n   Comparing yourself to others only leads to competition<br \/>\n   <br \/>\n  <\/em><br \/>\n <\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n  And we should be creating community\u2026not competition.\u00a0In the ever changing world of blogging, I can\u2019t stress the importance of creating<br \/>\n  <em><br \/>\n   relationships<br \/>\n  <\/em><br \/>\n  in this industry. I have friends that have hundreds of thousands of followers and friends that have less followers than I do. And you know what they all have in common?<br \/>\n  <strong><br \/>\n   They inspire me.<br \/>\n  <\/strong><br \/>\n  For me, it\u2019s not about the numbers at all. It\u2019s about the content they create and how they\u2019re using their platform.\n <\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n  If I was comparing myself to these inspiring women, I would drive myself crazy. It doesn\u2019t make sense at all. 1. It\u2019s not good for mental health\/overall image, and 2. It\u2019s almost like you\u2019re putting yourself against these people (in your own head). Overall, it just isn\u2019t conducive to a positive work environment. And hey, why would you want to willingly sabotage your relationships with really amazing and inspiring people?\n <\/p>\n<h4>\n  <em><br \/>\n   Success has a different meaning for everyone<br \/>\n  <\/em><br \/>\n <\/h4>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n  And that\u2019s ok. For some, it\u2019s money. For other, it\u2019s followers. And for some others, it\u2019s community. Whatever success means to you, it\u2019s up to you to\u00a0pursue it. It\u2019s not fair to yourself if you make yourself think others are outpacing you. That\u2019s not what success is about. You should 100% be in control of your own success. As long as you\u2019re continuing doing what you love, the path to success is YOURS. Own it. Do you.
